

While the event will NOT take place in 2020, we’ve included a quick summary of the 2019 race details and event schedule. Expect the format to be similar in 2021. Further details can be found under the various race details links above and more details as we get closer to the event.
Overview
When: 30th May – 2nd June 2019 (Entries have been extended to 14th April 2019 at 23:59)
Where: County Derry and surrounding Counties. The race will be run entirely in Northern Ireland
Who: 4 person mixed teams* (no support crew required or allowed)
Cost: €375 per person (Please don’t ask for a reduction or free entry as we cannot offer this, the fees are the same for all teams)
The first 15 teams to enter get free accommodation.
Accommodation:
Event HQ: The event HQ will be in the Coleraine Campus of the Ulster University. Registration for the event will be on Thursday afternoon 30th May and dinner and prize-giving will be on Sunday evening, 2nd June.
Race time: Approx. 48hrs for winning team. Race time may be extended for slower teams (approx. 6 – 12 hours)
Race Distance: Approx. total race distance 400km with short course options available.
Airport Shuttles: Shuttles will be provided for overseas teams from/to City of Derry and Belfast Airports. The journey is 3 hours. Overseas teams should contact us at info@thebeast.ie to arrange pickups/dropoffs.
Prizes: The Beast is part of the ARES and as such ARES sponsors Nordisk and Yeti will be supplying prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams, on top of this our own sponsors Kinnegar Farmhouse Beers and Cara Pharmacy will also be supplying us with prizes.
* single sex teams will compete on the same course but will be entered into a separate class, and cannot be the outright winners.
Event Schedule
30 May Morning (exact time TBC): Shuttle departs Airport for overseas teams.
30 May 12:00 – 17:30 Sports Pavilion open for bike drop only.
30 May 12:00 – 17:00 Accommodation Office open for collection of house keys.
30 May 15:00 – 16:00 Registration in The Crannagh. This will include mandatory kit check, issuing of maps, race bibs, etc. All teams MUST be present at 15:00 to allow sufficient time.
30 May 18:00 – 19:00 Race Brief in The Crannagh
30 May 19:00 – 20:00 Race Prologue at Edge Water Sports Centre/ the Crannagh
30 May 20:00 – 23:00: Hand in Kit Bags & Bikes The Sports Pavilion
31 May 07:00 – 08:00 Move to Start Point
31 May 08:00: Race Start
02 June 08:00 – 18:00: Race Finish
02 June 19:00 – late : Post Race Function
